Gaels come back from 2-0 deficit but lose out in fifth set

WINDSOR, Ont. (November 14, 2015) – The Gaels (2-3) came back from a 2-0 deficit to force a fifth and final set but lost 3-2 against the Windsor Lancers (2-2) on Saturday afternoon.  

GAME FLOW
With 19 kills, 17 digs and three aces Shannon Neville (Cambridge, Ont.) was a key player as the Gaels came back from a 2-0 deficit to push the match into a tie breaking fifth and final set. In their win, the Lancers were led by Shannon Dean with 18 kills on the offensive while Carleigh Bailey dominated their defensive play with 21 digs.

The first two sets belonged to the Lancers as Queen's dropped the first points of both frames giving Windsor the space to take off and put away 25-21 and 25-23 set scores.

Down by two in the third set, the Gaels continued to trail the Lancers who led at the technical timeout 16-9. Queen's was able burst back into the play after the break, hitting a seven point run to grab a tentative one point lead. The teams traded points as the Lancers tried to get back ahead of the Gaels who managed to hold onto their lead and take the set 25-22.

Their momentum ran into the fourth as Queen's led for the first time in the set at the technical timeout and finished off a 25-20 fourth to tie it all up at two sets a piece.
The Gaels won the early lead but the Lancers caught them at 5-4 and stayed ahead of the Gaels to finish their afternoon off 15-13 against Queen's and take the match.
