WATERLOO, Ont. (November 27, 2015) - Sukhpreet Singh recorded a team-high 19 points, and the Queen's Gaels men's basketball team maintained its flawless road record by defeating the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks 81-74 on Friday evening.

The Toronto native shot 6-of-14 from the field, 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, and added eight rebounds for the Gaels, while Jesse Graham (Kingston, Ont.) had a strong game off the bench, totalling 12 points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes of court time. Five Queen's players ended their nights with 10 or more points, and the men shot 41.3% as a team, compared to 37.9% from the host Golden Hawks.

Queen's also dominated the glass on Friday night, bringing down 54 rebounds, while the hosts could manage just 31. 17 of those boards occurred on the offensive end of the floor, which the men turned into 15 second-chance points. The Gaels bench also outscored the Golden Hawks 29-18.

The Gaels improve to 5-1 on the season, and remain atop the OUA East division with one more game remaining before the holiday break. Laurier drops to 4-2 on the year, but also sit tied for first place in the OUA West division. Luke Allin led all players with 20 points on 5-of-12 shooting in a losing cause for the Golden Hawks.

GAME FLOW
After a tightly contested opening three quarters, the Gaels held a five-point advantage after a third quarter in which the Golden Hawks managed to tie the contest, but were unable to overtake Queen's and move into the lead. The men regrouped to give themselves a small spread heading into the final quarter.

With Laurier continuing to press in the final period, the Gaels perimeter shooting came to life, as Singh, Sammy Ayisi (Toronto), and Marc Paclibar (Minesing, Ont.) each drained a three-point jumper on three of the next four Queen's possessions that gave the men a 10-point cushion with just minutes to play. A desperate final minute of action that included a couple of turnovers, and missed free-throws ended with Singh sinking both his three-throws to put the game out of reach for Queen's.
