NORTH BAY, Ont. (October 3, 2015) - The Gaels men's soccer team extended its regular season undefeated streak to seven games on Saturday afternoon after earning a 1-1 draw with the the Nipissing Lakers.
GAME FLOWAfter a scoreless first half of play between the Gaels, who came into the match wielding a five-game winning streak, and Nipissing, who had also not been beaten in their last four contests, it was the host side who broke the stalemate, courtesy of Brandon TeBrake's fourth goal of the season, in the 53rd minute. Andrew Martin (Kingston, Ont.) responded in the 69th minute with his second marker of the fall campaign to even the match.
With the tie, Queen's improves to 5-1-3 on the year, maintains its current undefeated run, and sits third in the OUA East division. The Lakers move to 3-2-4, and remain in a firm playoff position heading into the homestretch of the regular season. The teams will next face-off against one another during the last week of the regular season when they meet at Miklas-McCarney Field on Saturday, October 24.
