Gaels seven game unbeaten streak ends with a 3-2 loss at Laurentian

BOX SCORE SUDBURY, Ont. (October 4, 2015) - The Gaels unbeaten streak of seven games comes to an end with a 3-2 defeat at Laurentian on Sunday afternoon.

GAME FLOW
The first half began with a positive attacking play from Gaels forward Greg Simmons (Whitby, Ont.) with a shot that went wide. Both sides enjoyed spells of possession with conditions being a factor in the ability to control the ball in the midfield during the first half. Laurentian opened up the scoring with an individual run down the line in the 22nd minute. The Gaels almost equalized three minutes later with a through ball from Liam Scullion (Ottawa) which put Andrew Martin (Kingston, Ont.) on the break but his attempt was stopped. Laurentian doubled its lead in the 39th minute and took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half the Gaels cut into the lead in the 57th minute when Kyle Owens (Whitby, Ont.) crossed a ball into Kristian Zanette (Thunder Bay, Ont.) who scored his second goal on the season. It only took Queen's three minutes after their first goal to even up the game in the 60th minute with a penalty kick finish by veteran midfielder Oliver Coren (Toronto). The game headed into stoppage time with the Gaels showing a lot of promise on the attack but it was Laurentian who found the late winner off a corner kick in added time. It was a tough defeat for the Gaels who fought back from a two goal deficit in the game to lose on a last minute corner kick.
