THUNDER BAY, Ont. (October 24, 2015) - Coming off a big comeback win on Friday night, the Gaels made it two straight wins over Lakehead in Thunder Bay thanks to a 4-1 win with
Patrick McGillis (Calgary, Alta.) potting a pair.
Game FlowQueen's got out in front early, jumping out to a 1-0 lead with a marker by McGillis 2:17 into the game. Four minutes later the Thunderwolves evened things up with a goal of their own by Carson Dubchak. The Gaels and McGillis weren't done early in this game though, as he snapped one away shorthanded 8:54 into the opening frame, his fourth of the season. The Gaels kept the pressure coming as
Braden Mercier (Lutes Mountain, N.B.) potted his first and the team's third of the game.
Getting off to the start they wanted the Gaels looked to continue the momentum into the middle frame. While it didn't take two minutes to score again, the Gaels did pot another goal.
Shawn Boudreau (Kentville, N.S.) scored a powerplay marker to give the visiting team a three goal lead. It would stay 4-1 headed into the third.
Kevin Bailie (Belleville, Ont.) shut the door for the Gaels the rest of the way, keeping the game to a 4-1 score. That'd be the final score, as Queen's will take back-to-back wins versus the Lakehead Thunderwolves. Special teams would be the difference as the Gaels score both a powerplay and shorthanded goal in the game.
