THUNDER BAY (October 23, 2015) - The Queen's men's hockey team was in Thunder Bay for their first of two weekend tilts against the Thunderwolves and the Gaels were able to come back to take a 3-2 win.
Game FlowQueen's made the trip north for two back-to-back games in northern Ontario, first up was a game against the Lakehead Thunderwolves. The Gaels currently sit 2-1-0 on the young season, having won their last one at home versus Brock on last weekend.
The opening period saw a goal from each team, with the home Thunderwolves opening the scoring with a goal by Justin Sefton on the powerplay. The Gaels pressed back, taking most of the offensive opportunities the rest of the frame.
Eric Ming (Williamstown, Ont.) was able to beat the Lakehead goaltender for his second goal of the season.
Tied coming into the 2nd period it was the home team getting on the board once again. Another Lakehead defenceman snapped one home as Tyler Kunz scored his first of the season to give them a 2-1 lead 8:21 into the second. Queen's would fire nine more on net in the period, unable to beat the Lakehead goaltender Jeff Bosch.
An interference call against the Thunderwolves gave the Gaels a powerplay chance early in the third. 45 seconds into the man advantage Ming snapped home his third of the season and second of the game to tie things up at 2-2. Both teams fired 10 shots on net until it was
Jordan Coccimiglio (Burlington, Ont.) scoring the go-ahead goal for the Gaels.
That would be it as Queen's completes the comeback to take the game by a 3-2 score and winning their third game of the season.
