TORONTO (January 9, 2015) - Gaels captain
Shawna Griffin (Redwood Meadows, Alta.) collected a natural hat-trick as the No. 5 Queen's women's hockey team defeated the Ryerson Rams 4-0 Friday night on the road.
The Gaels opened the scoring just over five minutes into the game as
Addi Halladay (North Augusta, Ont.) deposited her sixth of the season. Griffin added two of her three on the night in the opening frame to give Queen's the early 3-0 advantage.
Griffin then completed the natural hat-trick early in the middle frame as the Gaels went on to earn the 4-0 victory.
Final shots for the night totalled 40-39 in favour of Queen's. Goaltender
Stephanie Pascal (Sudbury, Ont.) was perfect for the night as she earned the 39 save shutout while Ryerson's Alex Armstrong suffered the 36 save loss.
The No.5 Gaels (11-2-2) will remain in Toronto and return to action Saturday night when they take on the Toronto Varsity Blues (9-3-2).
