WINDSOR, Ont. (January 30, 2015) – The Gaels (4-9) fell to the No.5 Windsor Lancers (9-4) 93-86 this Friday night at the St. Denis Cenre in Windsor.
The Gaels exploded into the first quarter with
Patrick Street (Etobicoke, Ont.) scoring from the three point arc straight from the tip-off to get their momentum going. The Lancers responded immediately and the two teams traded baskets all first quarter with the Gaels managing to grab a 20-19 lead. Windsor dominated the offensive front in the second quarter hitting a 12-0 run and getting out ahead of the Gaels 45-35 at halftime.
The Lancers stayed ahead of the Gaels with 29 points over the 27 scored by Queen's putting the score at 74-62 at the end of the third quarter. The Gaels locked down their offence in the final quarter outscoring the Lancers 24-19, but Windsor has gained too much of a lead and finished off with a 93-86 win over the Gaels.
The Gaels were led by
Greg Faulkner (Kingston, Ont.) who scored a game high 25 points.
Patrick Street was right behind him with 19 points while
Tanner Graham (Kingston, Ont.) and
Mike Mullins (Burlington, Ont.) both contributed 12 points each. Mitch Farrell led the Lancers with 24 points and was followed by Rotimi Osuntola with a double-double performance grabbing 12 rebounds and scoring 17 points.
Tomorrow night the Gaels will head to London, Ontario to play the Western Mustangs at 8:00 pm.
