The McGill men's and Western women's soccer teams each went 2-0 for the weekend to win the respective Old Four titles.SUNDAY RECAP
McGill vs Western - Women'sTori Edgar stopped the only shot she faced in the game for the clean sheet and Amy Lintack scored in the 82nd minute to give the Western Mustangs their second win and the Old Four title for the women's side. The Mustangs dominated much of the play firing eight shots to the Martlett's one but Elissa McCarron had a strong game for McGill to keep them in it. She finished with seven saves in the loss. Western takes the title as Old Four champions for 2014 with a 2-0 record beating both Toronto and McGill.
McGill vs Western - Men'sIn another 1-0 match between McGill and Western on the men's side it was the Redmen coming out on top for the Old Four title. The game started out with Western firing shots at the McGill net but to no avail. They ended the first 45 minutes with a total of four shots to McGill's two. The second half was a mirror image as McGill took control offensively taking a four to two shot advantage. They also secured the lead at the 62nd minute as Oliver Richardson connected on a strike to put McGill out in front. It was all they needed from there on to secure the win and the Old Four title.
Queen's vs Toronto - WomenIn the women's consolation match at noon the Gaels doubled up Toronto in shots in the opening half with a four shot to two advantage. Neither team could break through the defenders however and the game remained scoreless. In the second the Varsity Blues broke through, first it was Zoe Carty finding the back of the net in the 79th minute to open up a 1-0 lead. Only three minutes later in the 82nd Toronto struck again as Chelsea Cheung looked to put the game out of reach. Queen's was able to respond with a late goal from
Danielle Lauzon but that was all the Gaels could get falling 2-1.
Queen's vs Toronto - MenHead coach
Christian Hoefler got his first win as a Gael thanks to a 2-1 victory from the men's team over Toronto. Despite Toronto firing five shots on the Gaels to open the first half Queen's held on to weather the offensive storm. It paid off for the Gaels as
Chris Wellsman fed a great pass in to
Eric Koskins who made no mistake to give Queen's a 1-0 lead heading into half.
Henry Bloemen put in a goal for the Gaels to make it 2-0 in the 64th minute. Queen's gave up a late goal to Toronto's Russel Rodrigues but Queen's hung on for the victory.

 Queen's vs McGill - Women'sIn the opening match of the Old Four Tournament the Queen's Gaels women's soccer team took on the visiting McGill Martletts on West Campus Turf Field. It was the Gaels controlling much of the play early on thanks to strong efforts from some key veterans in the lineup including
Jessie de Boer (North Vancouver, B.C.) and Jackie Tessier (Winnipeg, Man.) who returns to the Gaels for her fifth and final season.
After the first half the game remained scoreless with the Gaels outshooting McGill 2-0.The second half was all McGill as they fired seven shots at the Gaels including two from Daphne Morency who put home her second attempt in the 86th minute giving McGill the assured win.
Madison Tyrell (White Rock, B.C.) stopped six shots in the loss while the Martlett's got a clean sheet from Sarah Dubois who stopped all three shots faced. McGill advances to the final where they will meet Western at 2:15pm on Tindall Field while the Gaels will battle in the consolation match with Toronto at noon on the West Campus Turf Field.
Toronto vs Western - Women'sThe women from Western shut down the Varsity Blues to advance to the final against McGill on Sunday at 2:15pm on Tindall Field thanks to a 1-0 victory. The Mustangs offense was firing on all cylanders finishing with 12 shots in the match, including the touch from Tiana Deluzio who beat the Toronto keeper in the 67th minute to seal the win.
Tori Edgar got the clean sheet for the Mustangs in the win while her counterpart to start the game Sara Petrucci stopped all nine shots she faced before being substituted out. Western finished with five different players who registered two or more shots in the game. Toronto will now take on Queen's at noon in the consolation game at West Campus Turf Field on Sunday.
Toronto vs Western - Men'sOn the men's side the Varsity Blues and Mustangs opened up the tournament at Tindall Field. The Mustangs were the first to break through as Filippo Iuliani notched a goal in the 16th minute. The lead did not hold long however as the Varsity Blues were quick to respond thanks to a goal four minutes later from Lucas MacNaughton who led all players in the game with four shots.
After trailing in shots heading into the second half in a 1-1 game Toronto turned up their offensive pressure in the second half tallying five shots to Western's one. Mustang keeper Ben Cowman was up to the task though turning aside all shots faced in the final 45 minutes. The game was decided on penalty kicks and the Mustangs Adam Jaekel connected for the lone goal to secure the win. Western advances to take on McGill on Sunday while Toronto will battle the Gaels in the consolation match.
Queen's vs McGill - Men'sThe Gaels dropped a 2-0 decison to the McGill Redmen on Saturday afternoon in their opening match of the Old Four tournament. The Gaels will now play in the consolation on Sunday against Toronto at 2:15pm on the West Campus Turf Field while McGill moves on to the final to challenge Western at noon on Tindall Field.
The first half of the match was a defensive battle with neither team giving up many scoring opportunities. McGill managed the only shot of the half and the game was scoreless heading into the final 45 minutes. Just 10 minutes in to the second half McGill broke the deadlock as substitute Conor O'Louglin put one past the Gaels keeper. McGill added a second marker for insurance three minutes later from Alex Desantis and held strong for a 2-0 victory. Tom Daeschel wasn't tested often but stopped both Queen's shots on goal for the clean sheet.
