Gaels go out with a 3-2 win over No. 8 Toronto

Before the game, the Gaels recognized graduating players Kelsey Bishop (North Vancouver), Katie Hagarty (Aurora, Ont.), and Shannon Walsh (Perth Road, Ont.). All three players made an impact in their final game as Gaels. Bishop picked up a game-high 24.5 points with 22 kills, while Hagarty finished the match with 19 digs, 4.5 blocks, and 12.5 points, including the game-winning kill. Walsh came in as a replacement setter, finding her teammates 13 times to set up a multitude of kills.

After losing the first set, the Gaels bounced back on the strong play of Brett Hagarty (Aurora, Ont.), who picked up nine kills in the second set. The Varsity Blues leading kill-getter this season, Charlotte Sider, woke up in the fourth set, slamming down seven kills to force a fifth and final set. With the game on the line, Bishop picked up four kills late in the set to give Queen's a match-point. Then Katie Hagarty stepped up to throw down her final kill as a Gael, winning the match for Queen's.

Brett Hagarty finished with 22 kills, tied for a game-high with Bishop, and worked for a game-high 23 digs. 

Sider ended up with a team-high 18 kills for Toronto, while Jennifer Neilson recorded a team-high 20 digs.

With a win in their final game of the season, the Gaels finish 2013-2014 with a 10-9 record. The Varsity Blues finish first in the OUA East, and will host a playoff game next weekend.
