First set comeback not enough as Gaels fall to McMaster 3-2

BOX SCORE KINGSTON, Ont. (February 1, 2014) - Trailing 24-16 in the first set, the Gaels scored nine straight points to win the set 27-25, but ended up falling in five sets to the McMaster Marauders on Saturday afternoon at the ARC, 25-27, 25-21, 26-24, 23-25, and 15-10.

Brett Hagarty (Aurora, Ont.) continued her strong play for the Gaels, picking up game-highs in digs and kills, with 26 and 17, respectively. Shannon Hopkins (North Vancouver) also performed well for the Gaels, picking up 15 kills to go with 22 digs. Katie Hagarty (Aurora, Ont.), who had nine straight serves during the Gaels first set comeback, led Queen's with 4.5 blocks, and also had 13 digs and two aces.

Joanna Jedrzejewska was the Marauders standout player, with 17 kills, 10 digs, and two aces. Sophie Bukovec played incredibly through two and half sets, recording 12 kills and 14 digs in the first half of the match.

Queen's (9-7) heads over to RMC to play a 2pm match on Sunday, while McMaster is off until Friday when they travel to Brock.
