Last Friday the Gaels were defeated by Ryerson 3-2 despite recording a season-high of 52 shots and out shooting the Rams 52-40 in Toronto. The Rams opened the scoring with Queen's quickly answering back with a goal from Kelly Jackson (Scarborough, Ont.) but as the game went on Ryerson added to their lead and the Gaels were unable to make a comeback. On Saturday Queen's bounced back, ,the Varsity Blues opened the scoring but two goals from Queen's Andrew Wiebe (Thunder Bay, Ont.) took it for the Gaels 2-1 over Toronto.

The Gaels currently boast the fourth ranked power play in all of the CIS having scored 11 times with a percentage of 25% on the season. It is something they will look to take advantage of this weekend as Lakehead ranks 19th in the CIS in penalty killing at a rate of 82.7% on the season.

Men's Basketball
This weekend the Gaels men's basketball team (0-3) hits the road as they play Guelph (1-2) on Friday at 8pm and Brock (1-2) on Saturday at 8pm.

Last weekend Queen's was handed two losses from Waterloo on Friday, 70-66 and Laurier on Saturday, 87-70. The Gaels led the Warriors until the third quarter when Waterloo managed to tie up the score 43-43. In the final quarter Queen's scrambled to set up while the Warriors put away baskets to take the lead by nine point margin. Despite the loss, Greg Faulkner (Kingston, Ont.) led all scorers with 29 points and seven rebounds for the Gaels. On Saturday, Queen's and Laurier went back-and-forth early on in the opening quarter but a strong offensive performance by Laurier's Coulthard put the Golden Hawks in the lead and the Gaels unable to close the gap. Again, Faulkner finished the game as the top scorer with 26 points, three rebounds, three assists and a pair of blocks for the Gaels.

Queen's currently ranks third in the CIS for defensive rebounds per game averaging 43 on the season and Faulkner also ranks third in the CIS for points per game, averaging 23.3.

No.10 Women's Basketball
This weekend the No.8 Gaels (1-2) hit the road as they play Guelph (2-1) on Friday at 6pm and Brock (1-2) on Saturday at 6pm.

Last Friday, the Gaels beat Waterloo 67-52 snagging their first win of the season at their season home opener in the ARC. With an outstanding performance on defence, Queen's shutdown attacks from their opponents and capitalized on 22 turnovers from the Warriors. Jenny Wright (Kingston, Ont.) led the attack for the Gaels as top scorer in the game with 20 points and seven rebounds. On Saturday it was a different story as the Golden Hawks upset the Gaels 56-53 in a close match up. In an exciting fourth quarter the Gaels managed to tie up the game 51-51 with a clutch three-pointer from Abby Dixon (North Vancouver, B.C.) but fouls put Laurier up three points in the final seconds allowing them to hold on for the win.

In the CIS, Queen's currently ranks fifth in fewest turnovers committed per game averaging 14.7 per game on the season.

No.5 Women's Hockey
This weekend the No.5 Gaels (7-1-2) head to Waterloo to take on No.7 Laurier (6-3-1) on Saturday at 7:30pm and the Waterloo Warriors (3-5-3) on Sunday at 2:30pm.

Last weekend the Gaels played a single game against the UOIT Ridgebacks, defeating them 6-1 with an outstanding offensive attack., Just over three minutes into the first period, Queen's opened the scoring with a goal from Fiona Lester (Peterborough, Ont.). Lester doubled the score, depositing a one-timer from Taryn Pilon (Peterborough, Ont.) to get her fourth goal of the season. The Gaels finished the game for the Ridgebacks in the final frame when they double their score to take the game 6-1. Clare Mckellar (London, Ont.) also finished the game with two goals taking her total to six on this season.

Not only is the Queen's offence strong this season ranking fifth in the CIS with an average of 3.5 goals per game but their defensive play has been outstanding as they rank first in both goals against average at 1.08 and in save percentage at 0.955%.

Men's Volleyball
This weekend the Gaels (3-4) host RMC (0-7) on Friday at 8pm and in exhibition Team Canada FTC Saturday at 8pm in the ARC main gym.

Last Saturday Queen's easily beat the No.8 ranked Guelph team in a three set sweep, Mike Tomlinson (Stratford, Ont.) cleaned up for the Gaels with 15 kills, one serving ace and four digs. On Sunday the match did not go in the Gaels favour as Waterloo overtook Queen's in four sets 3-1. The first set went by quickly with Waterloo pulling away at the 14-point mark, allowing them to overtake Queen's 25-15. The next three sets, the Gaels dug deep to pressure the Warriors attack each set coming down to a two-point margin but even though the Gaels won the third set it wasn't enough as two back-to-back kills and an attacking error by the Gaels finished the match.

Queen's is currently ranked second in the CIS in digs per set averaging 11.58 while individually, Ivo Dramov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) tops all of Canada in the CIS averaging 3.04 digs per set.
