Montreal, Que. (November 1, 2014) - The men's hockey team deposited four unanswered goals as they went on to defeat the Concordia Stingers 4-2 Saturday night on the road.
The Stingers grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second period on goals from Marc-Olivier Brouillard and Olivier Hinse. The Gaels responded with three straight goals to close out the second period. Darcy Greenaway (Wilton, Ont.) opened the scoring for Queen's with his second of the season. The Gaels quickly added back-to-back powerplay tallies from Corey Bureau (Amherstview, Ont.) and Brett Foy (Niagara Falls, Ont.), giving them the 3-2 lead. Foy's goal is his first as a member of the Gaels.
Queen's added another just over four minutes into the final frame as Andrew Wiebe (Thunder Bay, Ont.) buried his second of the season. Foy's goal proved to be the game-winner as the Gaels held on for the 4-2 victory.
Goaltender Chris Clarke (Fall River, N.S.) made his first start of the season for the Gaels, earning the 27-save victory. Final shots for the game totalled 33-29 in favour of Queen's, as Concordia's goalie Robin Billingham recorded 29 saves in the loss.
The Gaels (4-3-0) return to action Friday night when they travel to Ottawa, Ontario to take on the Carleton Ravens (5-2-0).
