PETERBOROUGH, Ont. (September 8, 2013) - The No. 2-ranked Queen's Gaels played to a 3-1 win over Trent in OUA women's soccer action at Trent University, Sunday. With the 3-1 win, they move to 3-0-1 at the beginning of the season and are now tied with Ottawa for first place in the OUA east division.
The Gaels put the first point on the board in the twenty-second minute of play with
Savannah Meyer-Clement (Markham,Ont.) scoring the first goal. There were no other goals scored in the first half.
The second half saw the Gaels
Breanna Burton (Ottawa,Ont.) score twice, her first goal in the 52
nd minute of play and her second coming ten minutes later in the 62
nd minute of play. Trent closed out the game with a goal of their own by Kelsey White (Kingston,Ont.).
Madison Tyrell (White Rock, B.C.) made two saves for the Gaels, while Emily Webb (Peterborough,Ont.) turned aside eleven shots for Trent.
Tara Bartram (Vancouver,B.C.) led the Gaels attack with three shots each, while Carley Dunwoody (Orangeville,Ont.) had two shots for Trent.
The Gaels are back in action next Saturday as they make the trip north to take on the Laurentian Lady Vees.
