BOX SCORE MONTREAL (February 8, 2013) - The Queen's Gaels (10-10-7) scored twice in the third to force overtime with Concordia (8-14-5) who prevailed in a shootout to win 3-2.

It was Concordia jumping out to an early lead as Alexis Piette (Repntigny, Que.) got on the board just under six minutes into the game. The Gaels outshot the Stingers 12-10 in the first period.

The second period finished in similar fashion to the first with the Stingers notching a goal, this time from Dany Potvin (Napierville, Que.) despite the Gaels outshooting Concordia 13-6.

Queen's was finally able to solve the Stingers starting netminder Antonio Mastropietro (Montreal) on the power play in the third period when Patrick McEachen (Stouffville, Ont.) scored his third goal of the season from Stephane Chabot (Rockland, Ont.). With just under a minute remaining in the game the Gaels power play went to work once more, Jordan Mirwaldt (Winnipeg) scored to force overtime with helpers going to Joey Derochie (Sudbury, Ont.) and Jordan Soquila (Maple Ridge, B.C.).

After a scoreless overtime period the game went to a shootout where the Stingers fifth shooter Piette finished off the game beating Gaels starting netminder Riley Whitlock (Calgary, Ont.) to secure a 3-2 win.

Whitlock stopped 27 of 29 shots while Mastropietro made 42 saves for the win.

The Gaels return to action tomorrow when they travel to Three Rivers, Que. to take on the Patriotes. Game time is set for 2pm.
