BOX SCORE KINGSTON (December 1, 2013) - Despite outshooting the Mustangs 33-17, the No. 2 Gaels dropped sunday afternoon's matchup 2-0 on an empty net goal at the Memorial Centre.
With the game tied 0-0 after the first period, Western opened the scoring midway through the second when Stacey Scott gathered the puck behind the Gaels net, centering it to Ally Galloway, who banged it past
Mel Dodd-Moher (Stittsville, Ont.), who finished the game wiith 15 saves.Â
As time wound down and the Mustangs continued to lead, the Gaels pulled Dodd-Moher for the extra attacker.Â
Western withstood the Gaels last minute pressure, with Scott putting the game out of reach in the dying seconds with an empty-net goal to make the final 2-0 for the Mustangs.
Kelly Campbell earned the shutout win Western.
Queen's (12-2-3) open 2014 on the road to battle York (3-11-1) at 2pm on January 11th.
