BOX SCORE TORONTO (November 23, 2013) - The Toronto Varsity Blues (4-6) finished with 52 kills to defeat the Queen's Gaels (33-5) 3-1 with set scores of 26-24, 22-25, 25-20, 28-26 Saturday evening.
Tyler Scheerhoorn (Belleville, Ont.) finished with double-digits in kills with 17 respectively and finished the match with 20 points, while UofT had two players finish with double-digits in kills, Jake Dysselhof (Mississauga, Ont.) and Jay Tremonti (Dryden, Ont.).
Aleksa Miladinovic (Belgrade, Serbia) led the Varsity Blues with 19 digs, while
Aaron Nusbaum (Aurora,Ont.) led the Gaels with 12.
In the first set Toronto took advantage at home and hung on to top the Gaels with a 26-24 set win. Queen's responded to the first set loss with a close 25-22 set win to even things at 1-1. From there the Varsity Blues rallied and stayed strong to hold off the Gaels two more times 25-20 and 28-26 to take the 3-1 win.
The Gaels are back in action next Friday when they take on the Western Mustangs in the ARC at 8 p.m.
