GUELPH, Ont. - The Queen's Gaels picked up a 22-3 win over the Guelph Gryphons in men's rugby action in Guelph, Friday night. With the win, the Gaels stand in first place, with a 6-0 record and 29 ponts.
The Gaels led 8-3 at the half, with Brenden McGovern (Ottawa) scoring a penalty goal and
David Worsley (Vancouver) scoring the first try for the Gaels. On the Gryphons side Joe Newman (Waterdown, Ont.) scored a penalty goal to tighten the scoring difference.
The second half saw the Gaels go on a 14 point scoring run with tries from
Brendan Sloan (Peterborough,Ont.) and
Ciaran McSwiggan (Toronto). McGovern kicked successful conversions following each try to bring the goals to a 22-3 victory over the Gryphons.
The Gaels return to action next Saturday where they face off against the Brock Badgers. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Nixon Field.
