Five goal scorers lead No. 6 Queen's to 6-1 win over Brock

BOX SCORE ST. CATHARINES, Ont. (January 27, 2013) – Courtenay Jacklin (Regina, Sask.) had two goals for the No. 6 Queen's Gaels (17-3-2) contributing to a 6-1 win over the Brock Badgers at the Seymour-Hannah Centre Sunday night.
 
Taryn Pilon (Peterborough, Ont.) opened the scoring for the Gaels with a power play goal at the 7:03 mark; Morgan McHaffie (Guelph, Ont.) and Marlee Fisher (Kingston, Ont.) had assists. Seconds later at 7:34, Jacklin scored off a pass from Samantha Regier (Beachburg, Ont.) giving the Gaels a 2-0 lead.
 
Queen's carried their 2-0 lead into the second period. Fisher scored for the Gaels at the 3:04 mark of the second period increasing the Gaels lead to 3-0; Katie Duncan (Kitchener, Ont.) and Chelsey Verbeek (Beiseker, Alta.) had assists. The Gaels offensively dominated the remainder of the second period outshooting the Badgers 24-4.
 
Jacklin opened the scoring in the third period with a goal at the 6:19 mark with assists from Verbeek and Regier. Just over a minute later, Duncan added a fifth goal for the Gaels with assists from Pilon and M. McHaffie putting Queen's up 5-0. Danielle Girard (Sarnia, Ont.) scored at the 14:47 mark of the period; Pilon and Verbeek had assists. The Badgers got on the scoreboard with a power-play goal by Hailey Webb (Orillia, Ont.) with two minutes left in the game bringing the game to its final score of 6-1.
 
Mel Dodd-Moher (Stittsville, Ont.) had 20 saves for the Gaels. Emily Kelly (Port Elgin, Ont.) had 7 saves and Claire Shaw (Rosemount, Ont.) stopped 36 shots for the Badgers.
 
The Gaels return to action Saturday, February 2, as they travel to take on the Windsor Lancers. Faceoff is set for 4:10 p.m.
