Gaels suffer home loss to top-ranked Windsor in women's basketball

KINGSTON, Ont. – A 21-point night by Jessica Clemençon (St. Rambert, France) led the No. 1-ranked Windsor Lancers to a 72-64 victory over the Queen's Gaels in OUA women's basketball action at the ARC Main Gym, Friday. The fourth-year forward went 9-for-13 from the field as the Lancers improved to 7-0 in regular season play. The Gaels dropped to 3-4 on the year.
 
Queen's was led by Liz Boag (Kingston, Ont.), who scored 18 points on 7-for-11 shooting. Gemma Bullard (Guelph, Ont.) added 16 points, while Hanna Koposhynska (Mississauga, Ont.) had ten.
 
Windsor had three other players in double-figures, as Miah-Marie Langlois (Windsor, Ont.), Tessa Kreiger (London, Ont.) and Laura Mullins (Windsor, Ont.) each scored ten points.
 
The Gaels led 14-11 after the first quarter, and 27-25 at halftime, as the game featured ten ties and ten lead changes. Windsor took a 46-44 lead after the third quarter and scored 26 points in the final ten minutes to pick up the win.
 
Windsor outrebounded Queen's 41-31, and shot 47% from the field, to the Gaels' 42%.
 
The Gaels return to action on Saturday, as they host the Western Mustangs. Tipoff at the ARC Main Gym is set for 6 p.m.
