Filion’s lone goal gives Gaels 1-0 win at Laurentian

KINGSTON, Ont. - Midfielder Riley Filion's (Alexandria, Ont.) goal in the 14th minute gave the Queen's Gaels a shutout victory, 1-0, over the Laurentian Voyageurs in OUA women's soccer action in Sudbury, Sunday. The Gaels now head home with two wins from the weekend, after defeating the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday afternoon.

Queen's had six shots on net, while Laurentian had four. Goalkeeper Madison Tyrell (White Rock, B.C.) was solid for the Gaels in net, making four saves and grabbing the shutout in the win. Queen's now improves to a 10-2-2 record.

Laurentian goalkeeper Laura van de Valk took the loss, making five saves for the Voyageurs.
 
The Gaels now have two games remaining in regular season play. They visit the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Friday. Kickoff in Ottawa is set for 6 p.m. The Gaels will close out the regular season on Sunday, October 21, as they host Trent.
