KINGSTON, Ont. (Oct. 13, 2012) –
Graham Turner's four tries led the Queen's Gaels as they shut out the U of T Varsity Blues, 93-0, in OUA men's rugby action in Toronto, Saturday night.
The Oakville, Ont., native scored in the 12th and 18th minutes, as the Gaels opened up a 36-0 halftime lead, and added scores in the 54th and 61st minutes, as Queen's put up 57 second-half points.
With the win, the Gaels (5-1, 26 pts.) remain in second place in the OUA, three-points behind undefeated Guelph. With tonight's win, the Gaels have clinched a home playoff game this season.
The Gaels scored 15 tries altogether, with Buck Payne (Vancouver, B.C.),
Patrick Richardson (Vancouver, B.C.) and Matt Wolfe (Toronto, Ont.) each scoring a pair, while
Patric Hong (West Vancouver, B.C.),
Brendan McGovern (Ottawa, Ont.),
Ciaran McSwiggan (Toronto, Ont.),
Dave Merrithew (Toronto, Ont.) and Michael Ulosaz (Oakville, Ont.) adding singles.
Adam McQueen's (Canmore, Alta.) six conversions, and a trio of converts from
David Worsley (Vancouver, B.C.) rounded out the Queen's scoring.
The Gaels return home on Saturday, October 20, as they host the Brock Badgers at Nixon Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
