BOX SCORE TORONTO (January 27, 2012) – The Queen's Gaels (7-8) were in Toronto on Friday night visiting the Varsity Blues (11-5) who handed the Gaels an 85-61 loss.
Queen's was led by
Brittany Moore of Hannon, Ont. who had a team high 19 points on the night while
Christine Wallace of North Gower, Ont. chipped in 10 of her own. On the boards for the Gaels
Sydney Kernahan hauled in 10 rebounds which was a game high.
The Varsity Blues had five scorers in double digits on the night including a game high 21 points from Sherri Peirce of Brampton, Ont. on eight of 12 shooting.
Queen's fell behind early in the game, trailing by four points after one and eight at the half, but could not find a way back into the game.
The Gaels were hampered by 31 turnovers on the night compared to only 16 for Toronto while being outrebounded 44 to 36.
“Our inability to take care of the basketball was our downfall and that led to Toronto getting more shots,” said head coach
Dave Wilson on the loss. “That combined with being outrebounded gave us no answers.”
The Gaels have now lost three straight games with their last win coming on January 14 75-69 over York.
The Gaels return to action tomorrow when they take on the Ryerson Rams.
