KINGSTON, Ont. (October 10, 2011) – The Queen's Gaels will be showing their support for the troops at CFB Kingston Family Appreciation Day on Saturday, October 15.

As guests of Queen's Athletics, many members of CFB Kingston will be in the stands, to enjoy an afternoon of football, and to show their support for community events.

The game begins at 1 p.m. at Richardson Stadium. The Base Commander Colonel Stephen Cadden will join the team on the field for the ceremonial kickoff.

"It is a great show of spirit that Queens University along with their fans have decided to demonstrate their support for the men and women who serve in their local community," said Colonel Stephen Cadden, Base Commander of Garrison Kingston "On behalf of all Garrison Kingston members and their families, I want to thank Queens for their generosity and commitment to building community relations with their military community."

The Gaels (4-2) are coming off of their fourth straight victory in a 27-14 road win over the Windsor Lancers. Ryan Granberg of Sherwood Park, Alta. stole the show for the Gaels with his 265 yard, two touchdown performance. Other top Gaels included Billy McPhee of Burlington, Ont. who threw for 250 yards and a touchdown, while Giovanni Aprile of Toronto was the Gaels top receiver with 104 yards receiving.

On defence the Gaels were led by Sean Plumley of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. who made his first ever appearance in the Gaels starting lineup on defence. Plumley's 7.5 tackles led the team while he also contributed a forced fumble to the defensive effort. Andrew Lue of Toronto was also a big tackler for the Gaels as he posted 6.5 tackles on the afternoon. T.J. Chase-Dunawa of Toronto sealed the Gaels victory with an interception in the endzone late in the fourth quarter.

Waterloo comes into this game eliminated from the OUA playoff race with a record of 0-6. The Warriors were last in action on October 6 when they were on the wrong side of a 69-3 scoreline against the Laurier Golden Hawks. Dustin Zender of Kitchener has been their top performer all season long as his 51 catches and 688 yards receiving place him among the top receivers in the country.

Kickoff between the Gaels and Warriors is scheduled for 1:00 pm at Richardson Stadium.
