LONDON, Ont. (January 22, 2011) – Katie Matthews of Aurora, Ont., led the Queen's Gaels women's volleyball team with eight kills and added a block but it was not enough as the Gaels lost in straight sets 16-25, 19-25, 17-25 to the Western Mustangs.

With the loss, the Gaels dropped to 9-3 on the season and have lost back to back games for the first time this year.

Natalie Gray of Oshawa, Ont., had seven kills for the Gaels in a losing effort. Colleen Ogilvie of Calgary, and Katie Neville of Cambridge, Ont., each had four kills while Becky Billings of Ottawa, led the team with eight digs.

The Mustangs spread their offence around with Kelly Frittenberg of Alton, Ont., Rebecca Oxland of North Vancouver, B.C., and Elaine Screaton of Calgary getting seven kills each.

The Gaels still sit in second place in the OUA East with 18 points and game in hand over third place Ottawa.

The Gaels return to Kingston next weekend as they take on the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday, January 28th at 6:00pm.
