Gaels upset on the road by Lancers

WINDSOR, Ont. (January 21, 2011) – The Queen's Gaels women's volleyball team (9-2) saw their five game win streak come to an abrupt halt Friday night as they were upset on the road by the Windsor Lancers (2-10) in five sets.

Set scores were 21-25, 25-12, 24-26, 25-9 and 12-15.

Windsor's Kaila Seguin of Windsor, Ont., was the game's top scorer as she finished the night with 15 kills and 19 points. The only other Lancer to record more than 10 points was Ana Vrcelj of Windsor, Ont., as she picked up 10 points on six kills.

As for the Gaels, four players finished the night with 10 or more kills, including Natalie Gray of Oshawa, Ont., Katie Matthews of Aurora, Ont., Lorna Button of Newcastle, Ont., and Colleen Ogilvie of Calgary. Gray matched Seguin's 15 kills in the match, while Matthews had 12 and Ogilvie had 10. Button recorded the game's only double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs.

Queen's will look to get back in the win column tomorrow night when they take on the Western Mustangs. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
