Fisher’s 15 kills help Gaels maintain perfect record

| By:
KINGSTON, Ont. (November 3, 2010) – Natalie Fisher of Burlington, Ont., had 15 kills as the Queen's Gaels women's volleyball team improved to 4-0 with a 3-1 victory over the RMC Paladins Wednesday night at the Athletics and Recreation Centre.

The Gaels have now won 12 games in a row on home court and maintained their perfect record all-time against RMC.

The match started off inauspiciously for the Gaels as RMC, showcasing a number of talented rookies, grabbed the opening set from Queen's.

The next two sets would prove to be close affairs as well but the Gaels used strong defence and timely offence to grab a pair of set wins.

The fourth and final set saw Queen's grab control from the Paladins early on as the team walked away with their fourth win to start the year.

Natalie Gray of Oshawa, Ont., also recorded double digits in kills for the fourth straight game as she picked up 11, to go along with 10 digs. Katie Matthews of Aurora, Ont., also had a strong game with nine kills and 12 digs. Shannon Walsh of Kingston, Ont., was also strong defensively with 14 digs to lead all players.

Ariel Brown-Berkeley of Cambridge, Ont., was the Paladins top offensive player on the night as she earned 14 kills while Danielle Vortisch of Whitby, Ont., had 14 digs to top the Paladins defensively.

The Gaels now have more than a week off and will be back on the court for OUA action on Friday, November 12th when they host the York Lions. Game time is set for 6:00 pm.
