Laurier fires 42 shots on route to 3-1 win over Gaels

KINGSTON, Ont. (November 20, 2011) – The Laurier Golden Hawks fired 42 on goal, capitalizing on three, while the Gaels struggled to find the back of the net, ending with a 3-1 Laurier win.

Mel Dodd-Moher of Stittsville, Ont., stopped 39 of the 42 shots, including 15 of the 17 she saw in the third period, in a valiant effort to keep the Gaels in the game. Laurier got production from three different scorers, including Katherine Shirriff of Carrying Place, Ont., who scored the game winner on her fourth of the season.
Laurier's Liz Knox of Stouffville, Ont., saved 27 shots on the nights.

Down 3-0 with just more than five minutes left in the third period, Queen's Kelsey Thomson of Martintown, Ont., scored the lone goal for the Gaels, her eighth of the season, tying her for second in goals in the OUA.

The Gaels next game is against the University of Windsor on December 3rd at 8:30pm at the Kingston Memorial Centre. Queen's continues play on December 4th at 8:30pm against the Western Mustangs, also at the Kingston Memorial Centre.

NOTES: A number of players from the Kingston Ice Wolves were in attendance at the game, celebrating the recently-announced partnership between the two programs....players participated in a demonstration game during the first intermission and received autographs from the Gaels following the game.
