Men's Hockey set to face UQTR at Memorial Centre

| By:
KINGSTON, Ont. (November 12, 2010) - The Queen's Gaels (5-4-1) will be looking to ascend the OUA standings this weekend as they take on the UQTR Patriotes (6-4-0) at home on Friday.

The Gaels are coming off of a close 7-5 loss at the hands of the Concordia Stingers last weekend. Despite having two four-point scorers in Jonathon Lawrance of Steinbach, Man. and Scott Kenway of Calgary, the Gaels could not overcome a potent Stingers offence. The Gaels held two goal leads at two points in the game, but could not shut the door on defence. David Aime of Clandeboyne, Man. was the man between the pipes for Queen's and stopped 28 shots in the loss.

The Patriotes are coming into Kingston on a winning note after they beat Ryerson in a 7-1 blowout. Francis Charland of Victoriaville, Que. was the star of that game as he scored four of UQTR's seven goals, and added an assist in the victory. Jean-Christophe Blanchard stopped 31 shots in the victory and surrendered the lone Ryerson goal early in the third period.

The Gaels will be looking to shut down the Patriotes' top line of Charland, Etienne Bellavance-Martin of St-Jean-Chrysostome, Que., and Olivier Donovan of Gatineau, Que. who lead UQTR on offence. Of the team's 40 goals, 24 have been scored by this trio. If the Gaels defeat the Patriotes this Friday, they will leapfrog them in the standings and could sit as high as fourth before the weekend is over.

Friday's game is set to take place at the Kingston Memorial Centre. Puck drop is set for 7:30 pm.
