Gaels start title defence with win over Toronto

TORONTO (October 22, 2010) – Michael Amoroso of Toronto led the Queen's Gaels (1-0) with 14 points as men's volleyball swept the Toronto Varsity Blues (0-1) in their season opener. Set scores were: 25-19, 25-12, and 25-14.

Amoroso had 14 points on seven kills and seven blocks to go along with three digs.

Joreen Zeeman of Cambridge, Ont., and Bryan Fautley of Oakville, Ont., each broke into double digit points with 11 and 10 respectively. Fautley recorded a game high 10 kills in the win for Queen's.

Defensively the Gaels were led by Matthew Taylor of Toronto who added 12 digs.

The Gaels are back in action next Saturday in their home opener in the Main Gym of the Athletics & Recreation Centre (ARC). The will face the RMC Paladins following the women's game at 8:00pm.
