Gaels held in check by Varsity Blues

| By:
KINGSTON, Ont. (October 17, 2010) – The Queen's Gaels fell 2-0 to the No. 6 Toronto Varsity Blues at Richardson Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The first half was a close match between the two teams; however a last minute goal from Blues' midfielder, Darragh McGee of Donegal, Ireland, left the score 1-0 at half.

The Gaels fought back in the second half, but they were unable to convert five corner kick opportunities into goals. Toronto striker, Alex Raphael of East York, Ont., scored in the 89th minute to make the final score 2-0 for the Blues.

Toronto also defeated the Gaels earlier this season 1-0. The Gaels come away from the weekend with two losses and now possess a 6-5-1 regular season record.

The Gaels next game is against the Nipissing Lakers in North Bay next Saturday afternoon.
