Moore spectacular as Gaels hold on for win over Ottawa

| By:
OTTAWA, Ont. (January 23, 2010) - Brittany Moore of Hannon, Ont., scored a season-high 27 points as the Queen's Gaels rebounded from a tough loss the night before with a 66-64 win over the Ottawa Gee Gees.

Moore, who finished the game 10 of 17 from the field, including five of nine from three point range, also had three rebounds and three assists in the contest.

Erin Skippon of Kelowna, B.C., posted a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) for the Gaels who built a 13 point lead through three quarters of play before holding off a furious Gee Gees' rally to pick up the win.

Katie Guthrie of Orillia, Ont., also reached double-digits in points for Queen's matching Skippon's output of 12.

Hannah Sunley-Paisley was the leading scorer for Ottawa as she had 24 points to go along with nine rebounds. Emilie Morasse chipped in with 18 points and a game-high seven assists.

The victory keeps the Gaels (10-6) within striking distance of first place in the OUA East as they sit just two points behind the Carleton Ravens. Meanwhile, the Gee Gees fall to 9-6 on the season.

Queen's returns to action on Friday as they host the Laurentian Voyageurs in their first game in the new Athletics & Recreation Centre (ARC). Game time is set for 6:00 pm.
