Balanced Gaels attack the difference in win over Excalibur

Andrew Colosimo scored the game-winning goal over Trent
KINGSTON, Ont. (September 27, 2009) – The Queen's Men's soccer team (4-1-2) had goals from three different players in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Trent Excalibur (2-5-1) in soggy conditions at Richardson Stadium.

Michael Arnold of London, Ont., Andrew Colosimo of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Jordan Brooks of Angus, Ont., all scored in the first half giving the Gaels a lead they would not relinquish.

Queen's got on the board in the 22nd minute off a free kick. Arnold stepped up from 30 yards out and fired a low bullet past the Trent wall that sneaked into the far post to make it 1-0.

Just five minutes later, the Gaels extended their lead when a great cross from Daniel McBride of Kingston, Ont., found the head of Colosimo in the box, who directed the ball into the net.

Queen's would add another before the half courtesy of another cross into the box, this time off the foot of Nathan Klemencic of Trenton, Ont. Klemencic's ball found Brooks who buried his team-leading fourth goal of the season.

The second half didn't see any scoring until the 90th minute, when Trent's Thaddeus Bolton of Bowmanville, Ont., slid a ball past Gaels keeper Sean Martin-Courtright of Calgary, ruining his shutout bid. However, that would be as close as the Excalibur would get and the Gaels earned their fourth win of the season.

These two teams will battle again next Saturday when Queen's travels to Peterborough. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:15 pm.
