No. 6 Gaels hit the road to battle the Gee Gees

| By:
KINGSTON, Ont. (September 16, 2009) – After opening the season with two wins at home, the sixth-ranked Queen's Gaels travel to Ottawa for a showdown with the Gee Gees.

The matchup marks the first game between the two teams since last year's OUA Semifinal when Ottawa upset the Gaels at Richardson Stadium. With revenge on their minds, Coach Sheahan's squad will need a team effort to knock off the Gee Gees who are 1-1 after their first two games on this season.

Queen's is coming off a hard-fought 8-7 win last week against the McMaster Marauders. The stars of the game included running back Jimmy Therrien, who racked up a career-high 181 yards, as well as the entire Gaels defence. Led by Matt Vickers and rookie John Miniaci, Queen's held the Marauders to a total of 158 offensive yards on the day. For their effort, Coach Sheahan gave the game ball to the entire defensive unit.

As for the Gee Gees, they are coming off their first win of the season against the Waterloo Warrios. Rookie running back Jordan Wilson-Ross recorded 232 yards on the ground and two touchdowns in Ottawa's 45-11 win.

"This will be the toughest running back yet (that we've faced)," commented Coach Sheahan when asked about the prospect of shutting down Wilson-Ross. "But we've done a pretty good job so far shutting down the run against two good backs (Guelph's Nick Fitzgibbon and McMaster's Jordan Kozina)."

Fans are encouraged to make the drive up to Ottawa to support the Gaels. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm at Frank Clair Stadium.
