WATERLOO, Ont. (November 7, 2009) – Rookie goaltender
Mel Dodd-Moher of Stittsville, Ont. stopped 38 shots but it wasn't enough to lead her team to victory as the Gaels lost to the No. 2 Laurier Golden Hawks 2-0 on Saturday night.
The Golden Hawks managed to jump out to an early lead as Erin Weber scored less than two minutes into the contest.
Queen's had an opportunity to tie the game midway through the period when they got the game's only powerplay but were unable to capitalize.
After a scoreless second period, the Golden Hawks extended their lead to two goals when Stephanie Crarey scored her second of the season.
The Gaels applied pressure for the remainder of the third period, firing nine shots at Laurier goalie Liz Knox but could not find the back of the net.
The loss drops the Gaels to 5-1-1 on the season while the Hawks remain undefeated at 7-0-0.
Queen's will look to bounce back from their first regulation loss of the season tomorrow when they take on the Waterloo Warriors. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
