Gaels lose 3-1 on the road to McMaster

Elyssa Heller led the Gaels with 11 kills in a four set loss to McMaster

 HAMILTION, Ont. (November 6, 2009) – Elyssa Heller of Highland Park, Ill., had 11 kills and 6 digs in a 3-1 loss against the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton Friday evening.

The Gaels struggled in their first set, losing 25-13. They bounced back in the second set showing that they were a competitive match-up against the Marauders, and had a close win of 25-22. However, the Gaels showed some fatigue in the third set and lost a lopsided 25-11. The fourth set proved to be the final set as the Gaels could not complete the comeback and fell 25-22.

Rookie Katrina Chen of London Ont., had a great game on defense with 16 digs over the 4 sets. Gaels' setter Kristen Collins of Whitby Ont., also played well with 21 assists in the game. Offensive contributions came from  Heller with 11 kills and Natalie Gray of Oshawa Ont., with 7 kills.

The Gaels will look to rebound from the loss tomorrow evening against the University of Waterloo in Waterloo.
