Field Hockey Recap: Sunday

KINGSTON, Ont (October 4, 2009) – The Gaels were not able to follow up their first win of the season, falling to both the Guelph Gryphons and the Waterloo Warriors on Sunday in women's field hockey.

The Gaels opened Sunday play with a 5-1 loss against the Guelph Gryphons, one of the top teams in Canada over the past three years. Down 2-0 after four minutes of play, Queen's rookie Amber Halcovitch (Apsley, Ont.) scored on a penalty corner in the eighth minute. That was the closest the Gaels were able to get, as Guelph scored three more times.

Later Sunday, the Gaels lost 2-0 to the Waterloo Warriors, sending their record to 1-7-1 with 5 games remaining in the 2009 season.

Queen's stay at home for two games on Friday (October 9) this week, before leaving for Toronto the weekend after (October 18). They conclude the season in Waterloo on October 25th.
