KINGSTON, Ont. (October 3, 2009) – After going winless in their first six games, the Gaels started the weekend well with a 1-0 shutout victory over the Carleton Ravens in women's field hockey.
Laura Robinson of Calgary scored the game's only goal from a penalty corner in the 66th minute of action. It was the senior's first goal of the season.
Madelaine Gordon of Gananoque, Ont., held down the net for Queen's recording her first shutout of the season.
The women's team concludes the trio of weekend games on home turf matching up against the red-hot Guelph Gryphons and the Waterloo Warriors. Both games are set for Tindall Field at 10:15am and 4:45pm respectfully.
