Gaels knock off Thunderwolves for second day in a row

Lorna Button had a game-high 15 kills on Sunday
THUNDER BAY, Ont. (October 25, 2009) – For the second afternoon in a row, the Queen's women's volleyball team defeated the Lakehead Thunderwolves three sets to one (25-19, 25-16, 17-25, 25-17).

The victory moves Queen's to 2-0 on the season while the Thunderwolves fall to 0-2.

After the Gaels took a quick two sets to none lead, Lakehead battled back to win the third set. However, Queen's quickly took control of the game in the fourth set to wrap up the victory.

Starring for Queen's on the afternoon was Lorna Button of Newcastle, Ont., and Natalie Gray of Oshawa, Ont. Both players recorded a double-double in the game with Button picking up a game-high 15 kills to go along with 21 digs while Gray had 12 kills and a game-high 25 digs. For her efforts, Gray was named the player of the game.

Kristin Collins of Whitby, Ont., setup both Button and Gray all game as she accumulated 36 assists.

Queen's continues their season-opening six game road trip when they travel to Ottawa next Friday to take on the Gee Gees.
