Gray serves up a victory for the Gaels

Kingston, Ont. (January 21, 2009) – Natalie Gray of Oshawa, Ont., hit four service aces and seven points as she led the Queen's women's volleyball team to victory over their cross-town rivals the Royal Military College (RMC) on Wednesday inside the Bartlett Gymnasium.

Gray produced 12 straight serves and all four of her aces in the first set as the Gaels swept the Paladins 3-0 (25-10, 25-7, 25-12). All fourteen Gaels that dressed saw the court in the victory. Elyssa Heller of Highland Park, Ill, USA, knocked down eight kills for a game high nine points.

Setter's Julie Lockwood of Calgary and Kristin Collins of Whitby, Ont., combined for 32 assist, seven digs and three points for the Gaels. 12 of the 14 Queen's players recorded at least one point in the victory while RMC only produce a total of 10 points throughout the game, with no Paladin hitting more than one kill. Queen's also held the Paladins to just one block total.

Queen's moves into sole possession of third place in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) East division and have one seven of their last 10 games and their third in a row. The Gaels travels to Toronto Friday to take on the first place and undefeated York Lions. Game time is scheduled for 6:00pm.
