Kingston, Ont. (January 18, 2009) - Setter's
Julie Lockwood of Calgary and
Kristin Collins of Whitby, Ont. combined for 31 assists (14, 17) as Queen's women's volleyball defeated Lakehead 3-0 on Sunday in the Bartlett Gymnasium.
Queen's handed the Thunderwolves their 13th loss of the season in three straight sets, 25-20, 25-16, 25-19.
Natalie Gray of Oshawa, Ont. led the attack with 10 kills and one service ace while producing a game high 12 digs.
The Gaels held the Thunderwolves to just one block throughtout the three sets combining for 34 kills.
Lakehead setter Jill Bodak of Oshawa, Ont. recorded 23 assist for the Thunderwolves while Kalea Mullett of Moosomin, Sask. knotched nine kills and eight digs in the loss.
Queen's moves to 7-6 and is tied with Toronto for third place in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) East division. With one game in hand the Gaels and Varisty Blues each have 14 points.
In a cross-town match up the Gaels host Royal Military College on Wednesday. Game time is schedule for 6:00pm.
