Kingston, Ont. (January 10, 2009) – Nick DiDonato of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., hit five three pointers to finish with a career best 19 points giving the Gaels a 85-65 victory over the Laurentian Voyageurs.

DiDonato's previous best was last season (December 1) against Lakehead when he scored 14. The breakout performance came at the right time as Queen's leading scorer Mitch Leger of Kingston, Ont. recorded only four points fouling out early in the fourth quarter.

Four Gaels recorded double digits in points scored including DiDonato's impressive 19 points. Baris Ondul of Istanbul, Turkey dropped four three-pointers to finish with 16 while Ryan Hairsine of St.Mary's, Ont., had 15 and Tim Boyle of Belleville, Ont. scored 12.

Defensively forward Scott Stinson of North Bay, Ont. recorded 10 rebounds and four decisive blocks in the win. He also contributed offensively tallying a career high seven points. Stinson joined the Gaels late last semester after playing four seasons with Queen's football.

Laurentian forward Matas Tirlilis of Mississauga, Ont. finished with a team high 11 points and six rebounds.

The victory extends the Gaels winning streak to four games and improves their record to 6-5 on the season. Coupled with a Toronto loss over Ottawa on Saturday, Queen's is now tied for third place with the Varsity Blues in the OUA East division.

Next weekend Queen's will tangle with the Varsity Blues on Friday night in a battle for third place. The game is set for 8:00pm in Toronto. On Saturday, the Gaels will take on Ryerson with tipoff also scheduled for 8:00pm.
