Gaels take to the ice in third annual Lou Jefferies memorial game

| By:
Kingston, Ont. (September 18, 2008) – Queen's will battle cross town rival Royal Military College (RMC) Paladins in the third annual Lou Jefferies game slated for Friday evening at Lou Jefferies Arena in Gananoque, Ont.

The game is played in honour of the late Lou Jefferies who was a proud supporter of hockey played in Gananoque and at Queen's University.

As part of the game, Queen's Athletics and Recreation will announce the recipient of the Lou Jeffries Scholarship which is awarded to a first year player from the Gaels. Last year Jon Lawrence of Steinbach, Man. received the award and went on to score 20 points in 24 games in 2007-08.

The Queen's vs. RMC rival dates back to 1886 which is the oldest rivalry in hockey history. Last year, in a spirited affair, the Gaels defeated RMC 4-1 at the Lou Jefferies game. Tickets are $2 at the door with the festivities slated to start at 7:00pm.
