Hamilton (November 22, 2008) – Brittney Moore of Hannon, Ont. followed up her 21 point performance from Friday with a 17 point performance on Saturday. Despite her efforts though, the Gaels dropped a close game to McMaster 53-50.
Turnovers seemed to be the difference as Queen's turned the ball over 23 times to McMasters four. The points off turnovers was enough to allow McMaster to escape with the win.
Taylor Smith of Hamilton led the Maruaders with 19 points, including a perfect 8-for-8 at the line, while Alyska Lukan of Barrie, Ont. added a double-double with 11 points, 10 boards, along with four steals, and two blocks in 30 minutes of game time.
The lack of shooting accuracy by both teams allowed the Gaels to grab 48 rebounds, including 13 from
Erin Skippon of Kelowna, B.C. Skippon was also the only other Gael with double-digit scoring.
The loss leaves Queen's at a 3-4 record and will return home for the final home stand before the exam break. The Gaels host the Western Mustangs (5-3) on November 28, and the Windsor Lancers (7-1) on November 29. Game time for both games are set for 6:00pm in the Bartlett Gymnasium.
