Basketball Action vs. Bishop's

Leger and Bannister help edge Bishop’s 82-78

| By:

Kingston, Ont. ( October 9, 2008) – Mitch Leger of Kingston, Ont. and Daniel Bannister of Newmarket, Ont. combined for 45 of the Gaels 82 points as they defeated Bishop's University 82-78 in exhibition play Thursday evening.

Leger showed his shooting skill in the game going four for five in three pointers. The 6 '6 forward used his size in the paint as well picking up three offensive rebounds.

Banister was also consistent from long range as he went two for two in three pointers while going a perfect six for six from the free throw line.

Queen's found themselves with a 26 -18 lead after one quarter. Miss shots and passes by Queen's helped Bishop's get back into the game and going into half only down by two.

The second half was back and forth with numerous lead changes. Bishop's forward Cam Mowat of Kelowna, B.C. took control for his team recording all of his 18 points in the second half.

Bishop's  could not get any momentum though as they turned the ball over 20 times throughout the game. Queen's would take the lead with under two minutes left and hold on for the victory.

Queen's will now have just less than one week to prepare as they will host Cegep de Sainte- Foy next Wednesday, October 15th at 6:00pm.
