Kayla Roote (Peterborough, Ont.) is the Queen’s University Female Athlete of the Week. The third-year Number 8 scored three tries, a career-high, to lead the No. 3-ranked Gaels to a season-ending win over the York Lions. Roote scored in the 10th, 30th and 33rd minutes, as the Gaels took a 38-3 halftime lead and cruised to the victory, capping an undefeated season and giving Queen’s home field throughout the OUA playoffs. The Gaels are currently 8-0 overall, 6-0 in OUA play.
