5. ‘Coach-ability’
6. Fitness level

7. Attitude

8. Communication skills with players and staff

9. Personal conduct – professional, courteous, respectful and responsible

10. Commitment to one’s schoolwork, nutritional habits, sleep and overall well-being

11. Durability and perseverance Please note, that with the prominence of athletic financial awards and competitive recruiting practises, it is likely that all active roster positions will be filled prior to tryouts (in most cases prior to the completion of the university admission process).

An open tryout is therefore used to supplement the existing roster should positions become available.
It is recommended that potential student-athletes contact university coaches no later than the fall of their final year of high school, but would encourage earlier contact if possible.

The coach has the ultimate say and authority when it comes to team selection – and this decision will be final.
