Queen's Men's Soccer delivered a strong second-half performance Friday night, scoring three unanswered goals to earn a 3–0 win over the Carleton Ravens at Richardson Stadium.
After a scoreless opening half, the Gaels wasted little time breaking through after the restart. Damola Akanni (Psychology) opened the scoring in the 48th minute, giving Queen's a 1–0 advantage.
The Gaels continued to build momentum, with Isaac Molouba (Arts & Science) doubling the lead in the 55th minute off an assist from Akanni. Less than two minutes later, Sebastian Aguade (Arts & Science) found the back of the net, with Jacob Spizzirri (Economics) picking up the assist to extend Queen's lead to 3–0.
Three goals in under nine minutes quickly turned a scoreless contest into a commanding advantage for the Gaels.
Following the win, Queen's Men's Soccer Head Coach, Kasy Kiarash, reflected on the preparation that went into the team's strong second-half performance.
"We've been working on things all week, and we saw it on the field today. The takeaway was that with the preparation and putting in the right work, we can have a great result."
Queen's remained composed for the remainder of the match, keeping Carleton off the scoresheet to secure the clean sheet and the 3–0 victory.
The Gaels will look to carry the momentum into their next matchup when they return to Richardson Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 13 to take on the TMU Bold. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
