The Queen's Gaels men's basketball team closed out the regular season with a 91-83 victory over the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Friday night in a special Senior Night matchup at home. The Gaels showed steady control throughout the contest, using balanced offence and composed play to secure the win.
Before the game, the Gaels honoured graduating seniors
Sam Kong (Arts),
Gianni Itegeli (Arts),
Lucas Ponting (Commerce), and
Kai Dalen (Arts) for their leadership and contributions to the program.
The Gaels established the pace early, building a 19-14 lead in the opening quarter before extending the margin to 48-37 by halftime through efficient scoring and strong defensive pressure. The Gaels maintained their advantage in the third quarter, pushing ahead 70-59, and stayed composed to close out the 91-83 victory.
Ashton Bain (Arts) led the Gaels with 18 points, including two three-pointers.
Ollie Engen (Kinesiology) and
Jakub Dobiech (Arts) each added 14 points to support the offensive effort.
