Early Goals Fuel Gaels 4–1 Victory Over Lions.

Queen's Women's Hockey put on a show on the road, skating past the York Lions 4–1 in a game full of fast-paced action.

The Gaels jumped on the board late in the first, with Melissa Patron (Arts & Sciences) finishing off a slick power-play setup at 17:46. Scarlett Nowakowski (Commerce) and Sophie Hudson (Chemical Engineering) earned the assists, keeping the Lions scrambling.

Queen's wasn't done yet. Just over a minute later, Emily DeBrouwer (Engineering) scored their first OUA goal, ripping a bar-down shot from the back door. Sophie Cruz (Arts & Sciences) picked up the helper as the Gaels cruised into the first intermission with a 2–0 lead.

The second period was all about sustaining pressure. Melani Brooks (Arts & Sciences) found the back of the net to make it 3–0, with setup from Cruz and Hudson again. York tried to claw back with a goal of their own, but Sophy Aldred (Arts & Sciences) responded quickly, burying a slick shot from Alex Recksy (Health Sciences) and Megan Hirschfeld (Health Sciences) to restore the three-goal cushion.

In the third, Queen's locked it down defensively, shutting down York's chances and skating with confidence.

Notably, goaltender Bronwynn Lee (Arts & Sciences) stood tall in net with a total of 17 saves, earning their first OUA win and keeping the scoreboard firmly in Queen's favor.

Queen's Women's Hockey returns to home ice next weekend, where they will host the Windsor Lancers in an afternoon matchup, with puck drop scheduled for 2:30 PM. All tickets are available at gogaelsgo.com
